Help me Understand the 4G Network

What is the difference between 4G HSPA+ and 4G LTE?
Network Download Speed Upload Speed
4G HSPA+ Up to 21 Mbps* Up to 5.7 Mbps*
4G LTE Up to 75 Mbps* Up to 25 Mbps*
What does the 4G Wireless Network provide?

The MTS 4G LTE Network offers:

  • The latest and most advanced LTE Smartphones and Connectivity Devices.
  • The power to stream movies seamlessly with less lag time.
  • The ability to download music, pictures and Apps faster than ever before.
  • The speed to play multi-player games online.
  • Quick access to emails and business documents.
How do the speeds of the MTS 4G networks compare with traditional landline Internet service?
  • On average, the new 4G LTE wireless network will offer speeds of 12 Mbps - 25Mbps and the 4G HSPA+ will offer average speeds of 2 Mbps.*
  • It is important to remember that you are comparing a dedicated service in Landline Internet to a shared service with Wireless Data. MTS landline Internet delivers a more consistent speed experience, whereas wireless Internet service is shared bandwidth. If you decide to get a wireless Internet stick you should be aware that you will experience fluctuations in speed. Where available, landline Internet is recommended as a better alternative as it offers consistent speeds and experience.
How much faster are the data speeds for 4G versus CDMA?
  • 4G average data speeds are about 5X faster than the average CDMA speeds.
  • Note: Wireless Data speeds (regardless of the network being used) are influenced by proximity to a cell site, topography, the type of device accessing the network and the number of people accessing the network at that time.
How will I know when I am getting 4G LTE Speeds or 4G HSPA+ speeds?

Newer 4G LTE devices will indicate either "4G" or "LTE" on the top of the screen to show the coverage area you are in.  Please refer to your owner’s manual to learn which LTE technology indicator is on your device.
